CAMP ("we", "us") is a job-application tracker for students and college placement cells. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled — including the Google/Gmail access the app requests.

What we collect

  • Account details — name, email address, phone number, and (for students registered through an institution) course and experience level. If you sign up with a password, we store a salted hash of it, never the password itself.
  • Google account info — if you use "Sign in with Google", we receive your name, email address, and Google account ID (sub) from Google. We only use this to identify your account; we do not receive your password.
  • Job application data — company, job title, job board, URL, status, deadlines, and notes for the applications you add or that CAMP finds for you.
  • Resume and job description text — if you upload a resume or generate an ATS-fit score, the resume and job description text is stored so the score and suggestions can be shown to you later, and is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate that score.
  • Profile photo — only if you choose to upload one.
  • Payment records — if you or your institution pay for a subscription, Razorpay (our payment processor) handles your card/UPI details directly; we store only the resulting order ID, payment ID, amount, and status, never your full payment details.
  • Usage analytics — basic, aggregated site-usage data via Google Analytics (pages visited, general location, device type), used to understand how the product is used. This is not tied to your CAMP account.

Gmail access ("Connect Gmail")

If you choose to connect your Gmail account, CAMP requests read-only access to your inbox (the gmail.readonly scope). This access is used for exactly one purpose: periodically searching your inbox for application-confirmation, interview, and offer emails so we can update the status of the matching application in your tracker automatically.

  • We never send, delete, or modify anything in your inbox.
  • Gmail access tokens are encrypted at rest and are only ever used server-side to run these searches.
  • You can disconnect Gmail access at any time from your Profile page, which deletes the stored token immediately. You can also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions page.
  • CAMP's use of Gmail data adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

How we use your data

  • To operate your account and the job tracker, job search, and resume-scoring features.
  • To let your institution's placement cell view the applications and progress of students registered under it, if you registered through an institution.
  • To detect application status changes from your inbox, if you've connected Gmail.
  • To process subscription payments, via Razorpay.
  • To send you account-related emails (approvals, status changes) — we do not send marketing email.

Third parties we share data with

We don't sell your data. Data is shared only with the services CAMP is built on, strictly to provide the product:

  • Google — for "Sign in with Google", Gmail read-only access, and Google Analytics.
  • Google Gemini API — resume and job description text, to generate ATS-fit scores.
  • Razorpay — for payment processing.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — our hosting and file-storage provider; your data is stored on AWS infrastructure in India (ap-south-1).
  • Job search results are fetched live from LinkedIn, Indeed, and Naukri based on your search terms — this sends your search query to those sites but not your CAMP account details.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, email us at shivenderm26@ispp.org.in and we'll remove it, typically within a few days.

Security

Passwords are hashed, Gmail tokens are encrypted at rest, and all traffic to CAMP is encrypted over HTTPS.

Children's privacy

CAMP is intended for college students and job seekers, generally 18 years or older. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
